Careers Week 2nd- 6th July

We have been celebrating Careers Week this week in school.

Each year group have been looking at different activities based on careers and the skills necessary in working life.

In year 6, the children have been creating their own businesses, including beauty parlours and hairdressers. They have also been taking part in some team building activities and researching study courses for Kirklees College.

In Year 5, the children have had a visit from School Governor Dr Oliver Martin to tell them about his job role as an anaesthetist. They have also been researching career options.

In Year 4, they have been creating their own inventions and designing their own school uniforms. The children also had a visit from a dress designer to help them.

Year 3 have been busy learning about careers based on events organisation. In particular, looking the costings requirements when hosting a major event like a concert.

Year 2 have been looking at jobs based on money and completing some maths based on personal finance.

In Year 1 they have been looking working together as a team and have created a zoo picture together. This was inspired by their visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Finally in Reception, they have had visits from a paramedic and a police officer to talk to the children about their job roles.
