Staff: Mrs Morgan and Mrs Bentham
Welcome to Class 5M!
Our motto is: “Keep on trying to be the best we can be!”
All 26 of us love to learn. We enjoy challenge and seize the opportunity to be great! We are doing well to earn house points and if your child comes home with a house point chart, this shows they have fantastic learning behaviour!
Now we are in upper key stage 2, we know how important it is to work hard to achieve our potential. Every morning we do English and Maths with Mrs Morgan and Mrs Bentham. Mrs Cave is the other Year 5 teacher and we are taught by her for Computing lessons.
This year we will be learning about the ancient Greeks and their Gods, the Vikings and also how to plan a trip around the world. We have lots of exciting activities and events planned across the school year to enhance these exciting topics, so please keep an eye on newsletters and social media for dates and times!
Every week we have PE on a Monday and Wednesday so please remember to bring your kit. P.E this year is taught by Mr McMahon.
On Friday we have Music with Mr Simons. This year children are learning to play the keyboard and the PBones. We also have singing on a Friday.
Mr Beaumont teaches P.S.H.C.E. on a Thursday afternoon in 5M.
Homework is given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Wednesday.
How to help your child
Please ensure that your child brings their reading diaries into school every day and reads at least three times a week at home. It is also important that children complete their homework and spellings on time and support should be given to children as necessary. By the end of Y5 it is very important that children will know all of their times tables so regular practice of these would also be beneficial. Reading books and researching the topics we will be covering would also be really useful.
We have an open door policy so if you ever need to speak to one of the teachers, please call in before or after school, telephone or go to the office to make an appointment.
We look forward to working with your children this and sharing our learning with you!
