Staff: Mrs Holmes and Miss Claire.
Welcome to Class 4H!
We have 24 talented and energetic pupils in our class. Our teacher is Mrs Holmes. We are supported in our learning by Miss Claire. We hope you find the information on this page useful.
This year we are learning all about the history of flight leading up to and including WW1, Learning all about mountain expeditions and mountain ranges and we will also learn about the history of Thornhill and how Thornhill used to look in days gone by. We have lots of exciting activities and events planned across the school year to enhance these exciting topics, so please keep an eye on newsletters and social media for dates and times!
In Autumn 1, P.E. will be on a Wednesday afternoon with a rugby coach from the Huddersfield Giants before reverting to a Thursday for the remainder of the year. We also go swimming at Dewsbury Sports Centre on a Monday afternoon. Please remember to bring kits on these days. P.E this year is taught by Mr McMahon.
We have singing with Mr. Simons on a Wednesday afternoon and we are also learning to play the ukulele in Music lessons on a Thursday afternoon.
We have PSHCE with Mr Beaumont on a Friday afternoon.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Wednesday. Children can change their reading books daily.
How to help your child
Please ensure that your child brings their reading diaries into school every day and reads at least three times a week at home. It is also important that children complete their homework on time and support should be given to children as necessary. By the end of Y4 it is expected that children will know all of their times tables so regular practice of these would also be beneficial. Reading books and researching the topics we will be covering would also be really useful.
We have an open door policy so if you ever need to speak to one of the teachers, please call in before or after school, telephone or go to the office to make an appointment.
We look forward to working with your children this and sharing our learning with you!
