Staff: Miss Knott and Mrs Ottewell
Welcome to Class 2K!
We have 25 happy children in our class. Our class teacher is Miss Knott and we are
supported by Mrs Ottewell every morning.
This year we will be learning about the United Kingdom, winter animals, water, dinosaurs, how to stay healthy and trees and plants. We have lots of exciting activities and events planned across the school year to enhance these exciting topics, so please keep an eye on newsletters and social media for dates and times!
We have P.E. on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has a named P.E. kit (ideally including pumps for lessons inside and trainers for lessons outside) and please remove earrings where possible. P.E this year is taught by Mr McMahon.
We have singing with Mr. Simons on a Thursday afternoon and we are also learning to play the recorder in music lessons on a Thursday morning.
We have PSHCE with Mr Beaumont on a Wednesday afternoon.
Homework is given out every Friday and needs to be returned on or before the following Wednesday.
Reading is so important! Hearing your child read and sharing books together will help them with their progress. Children take home two reading books – an Oxford reading book or a Hero Academy reading book and a book that your child has chosen from the same reading band. Please bring reading books to school every day, even if you haven’t had chance to read them yet at home.
How to help your child
Please support your child with their homework and with their reading. Talking to your children about what they have been learning in class is also really useful!
By the end of Y2, it is expected that children will know their 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 and 10 times table so regular practise of these would be beneficial. Getting a head start by reading books and researching the topics we will be covering will also be really useful.
We have an open door policy so if you ever need to speak to one of the teachers, please call in before or after school, telephone or go to the office to make an appointment.
We look forward to working with your children this year and sharing our learning with you!
