Class 1S

Staff: Mrs Swales and Mrs Hussain
Welcome to 1S!
We are a class of 26 friendly and inquisitive children who are really keen to learn and explore and try new things.

This year we will be learning all about the story of the Gruffalo, learning about toys that their grandparents used to play with, making a raincoat for Beegu, learning all about bugs and how to set up a garden centre!  We have lots of exciting activities and events planned across the school year, so please keep an eye on newsletters and social media for dates and times! An exciting adventure ahead for us all!

PE is on a Tuesday and a Friday, so please leave PE kit in school all week, including pumps or trainers.  P.E this year is taught by Mr McMahon.

We have singing with Mr. Simons on a Thursday afternoon and we are also learning to play the ocarina in our Music lessons on a Wednesday morning.

We have PSHCE with Mr Beaumont on a Tuesday morning.

Homework will be sent out on a Friday, to be returned by Wednesday please.

How to help your child
Please ensure that your child brings their reading diaries into school every day and reads at least three times a week at home. It is also important that children complete their homework on time and support should be given to children as necessary. By the end of Y1 it is expected that children will know there 2, 5, 10 times table so regular practice of these would also be beneficial.  Reading books and researching the topics we will be covering would also be really useful.

Please ensure all uniform and coats, hats and footwear are labelled with your child’s name to allow us to return any lost items.

We have an open door policy so if you ever need to speak to one of the teachers, please call in before or after school, telephone or go to the office to make an appointment.

We look forward to working with your children this and sharing our learning with you!
