***ANSWERS TO LAST WEEK’S MATHS CHALLENGE (1)***
Week 9 Commencing 18th May 2020
Support your reading habit without paying a penny or taking a trip to the library with this website that has free books to read online. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/
All you have to do is sign up as a teacher (FREE) and you can access all of the free books. It’s super easy to use and it separates them by age!
The Oak National Academy
Some very clever teachers have got together and created some lessons for you to access. I have looked at some of them and they are good but I did have trouble getting a few of them to work. There are some glitches which will be ironed out in the foreseeable future.
There are maths and English lessons every day and they are sequential so it is best to start at the beginning and work your way through.
English and maths have their own sections but all other subjects are grouped in a section called Foundation. The link below will take you to the schedule but you can click on subject at the top right to allow to search for lessons in this way if you prefer.
BBC Bitesize are providing sessions on the red button on your TV or through their website.
This Weeks schedule Scroll through for Y4.

Week 2 Commencing 30th March 2020
I would love to know what you’ve been up to. You can contact me via the school’s email address firstname.lastname@example.org and put FAO Mrs Montasari as the subject.
Week 1 Commencing 23rd March 2020
Staff: Mrs Montasari and Miss. Hussain
Welcome to 4W!
Thank you for visiting our class page. We are a class of 30 children who are keen to learn and develop our skills! Our teacher is Mr. Wilcock and our teaching assistant is Miss. Hussain who helps us with Maths and English on a morning.
This year we are learning all about what life was like in Victorian times, both in Thornhill and elsewhere in the world. We will also be learning about what life is like in the Himalayas, including what life is like in Tibet which is well supported by, ‘Running on the Roof of the World’ by Jess Butterworth. In the Summer, we will be learning about Ancient Egypt and the archaeologists who discovered now world-famous historical sites.
In Autumn 1, P.E. will be on a Wednesday afternoon with a rugby coach from the Huddersfield Giants and a Tuesday with Mr. McMahon. After this, Tuesday will become our only P.E. session in school, although opportunities for extra P.E. will be available throughout the year. We also go swimming at Dewsbury Sports Centre on a Monday afternoon. Please remember to bring the correct kit on the relevant day.
We have singing with Mr. Simons on a Wednesday afternoon and we are also learning to play the ukulele in Music lessons on a Friday Morning.
We have PSHCE with Mr Beaumont on a Tuesday afternoon.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned to school by the following Wednesday. Children can change their reading books daily and many have made an excellent start to reading outside of school this year, keep it up!
How to help your child
Please ensure that your child brings their reading diaries into school every day and reads at least three times a week at home. It is also important that children complete their homework on time and support should be given to children as necessary. By the end of Y4 it is expected that children will know all of their times tables so regular practise would also be beneficial.
We have an open door policy so if you ever need to speak to one of the teachers, please call in before or after school, telephone or go to the office to make an appointment.
We look forward to working with your children this year and sharing our learning with you!
